FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does it really make espresso, or just strong coffee?

Espresso. 19 bar of pressure is what produces crema and body, and that's what the V1 runs at — the same pressure class as a home countertop machine.

Do I need to bring hot water?

No. That's the main difference between the V1 and most portable espresso makers. Pour in cold water and the machine heats it: about 4 minutes for a 50 ml single, 8 minutes for a 70 ml double. If you do bring hot water, skip the heating step and the battery lasts far longer.

How many coffees per charge?

From room-temperature water, 3–4 heated shots. From ice water, about 2. Using water that's already hot, around 200. Heating is what drains the battery, not the pump.

Which capsules fit?

Nespresso® Original-line capsules and the many compatible capsules made for that format. Vertuo capsules do not fit — they're a different shape and system.

Can I use my own coffee?

Yes. The ground-coffee adapter and a tamping spoon are in the box. Use a fine espresso grind.

How long does it take to charge?

About 2 hours over USB-C, from a laptop, car adapter or power bank.

Can I take it on a plane?

Yes, in carry-on baggage. The 28.08 Wh battery is well under the 100 Wh limit airlines allow without special approval. Lithium batteries are not permitted in checked luggage — keep it in the cabin.

How do I clean it?

Fill with clean water and run one cycle with no capsule. The adapters and cup detach and rinse under a tap. Don't submerge the body — it holds the battery and electronics.

It's not brewing. What's wrong?

Nine times out of ten the portafilter isn't screwed on tightly enough to hold pressure. Unscrew it, reseat the adapter, and tighten firmly. If it still won't brew, charge it for a full 2 hours and try again, then email us.

Is this a Nespresso product?

No. Nespresso® is a registered trademark of Société des Produits Nestlé S.A. VESPRA is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Nestlé. The V1 is designed to accept Original-line capsules.

What's the warranty?

12 months against manufacturing defects, plus the 2-year statutory legal guarantee for EU customers.
